Mother to Son
This poem inspired me for my high school graduation speech..... Oh the memories
Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor—
Bare.
But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,
And reachin' landin's,
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
Where there ain't been no light.
So, boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps.
'Cause you finds it's kinder hard.
Don't you fall now—
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

Phenomenal Woman
By Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.

That's me.

Encouragement on weight loss journey
So I will be doing my youtube video later (have a very busy day today). But until then I wanted to post this bible verse my friend gave me for encouragement.
Matthew 7:24-27
24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
In my earlier posts I talked about how I am trying to be healthy to continue my purpose God has for me. I know everything I do is to glorify Him even my exercising and my weight loss journey. This parable that Jesus talks about truly makes me think about how we need to build a strong foundation in everything we do. My whole life I have been trying to find quick fixes for my weight loss. Though I have been able to lose it but was it healthy?! No it wasn't! I truly believe Weight Watchers is helping me to build my foundation to live a healthier life style. Not only am I making wise choices but I am learning how to live-it whether than diet. With this foundation that I am building on a rock when the wind comes (temptation, loss of self motivation, busyness) my house will be strong enough to with stand it. Keeping my eye on the goal, prayer in my heart, and Jesus on my team! I can and will be healthier even if its slowly but surely.

Living my Life like its GOLDEN!!!
I have been thinking about if my life had its own soundtrack what sounds would be on there.... Well I feel like this song would be 1-5 on the CD....... Love it! I am truly living my life like its GOLDEN. Because I never know what may happen to me. I am type of person who wakes up motivated to inspire or be inspired. I believe everyday there is a purpose for us to fulfill. Once we have lived up to our purpose it is time for us to be called home. So everyday I thank God for waking me up to live out His will and hopefully I can touch someone's life w/my smile or someone else can make me smile :o)

I heart reading!!!!!!
So today I went to Walmart to pick up a few things and to start my day off right. Every time I am in Walmart I always over buy things (I have a problem with that lol). While I was at my Weight Watchers meeting, they were talking about their recipe books that they had and all the yummy food they were making. So you know me I love to buy recipe books even though I can't cook lol. So that was my reasoning to walk over to the book section of Walmart and lets say I was just grabbing all types of books to read.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies since I was younger. My little sister use to call me Matilda because of all the reading I use to do. I do not what it does but reading brings me so much JOY!!!!!!! One of goals after I get a big girls job is to find a book club to join. Aw I am so excited about that!!!!! Well here is the list of books I bought:
-The Five People You Meet in Heaven
-Remember Me?
-Big Girl

Predicting the Future
I am so upset at myself!!!! I have not exercised for 3 days now. Isn't that horrible!!!!!!! I have been eating unhealthy too. So I think this is a wake up call to myself because I am not feeling well at all. So on Thursday when I weigh myself I am not expecting good news :'(. I am not going to let this stop me. I have decided to go harder and stronger. I just have to start my 6 week program all over again but hey I need to lose this weight for my health.
January 22, 2010
Not happy with my 2nd week weigh in
So I am not happy with my weight loss this week.... Ugh lol. So I lost .8 of a pound which is wonderful but I just feel as though I should have lost more! I know what I did for me not to lose as much..... I ate horribly this week ugh! So now I am determined to concentrate on my eating habits for my week 3 weigh in. Also I am going to challenge myself more when I am working out. So next week is extreme workout for me lol

Want to make it more than a RESOLUTION, I want it to turn into a lifestyle
So I have been working out for a complete week and I feel GREAT!!!!! Like oh my goodness like every part of my life has been amazing and I believe its because of me taking the healthy plunge. Usually whenever I start living healthy I am always strong the first couple of weeks and then life hits me and I just STOP...... I so do not want to do that now because I have true meaning of trying to be healthy this time. If I stop living healthy I am going to be so disappointed in myself..... I can't and will not do it. So as everyone knows the first couple of weeks in January all the resolutioners take over the gym and all the aerobics classes so my goal to reach is to go past the point where people think I am a resolutioner. Based off of my friend she told me that most of the time people do not drop their resolutions until Jan. 17 (which is tomorrow), so I am already past that date but for me if I reach March/April and still living healthy then I know it will be for a lifetime. So that is my goal right now is to continue doing what I am doing through Feb and the rest of my life.
So next weeks goal for my self is to start this walk/run routine that is suppose to last for 6 weeks. Its a program that will get me running for a whole 30 minutes. Wow, just imagine me running!!!!! Right now run is not in my vocab but on Monday it will be!

My inspiration to live a healthier life
My reasoning to live healthy... I do not want to be DISQUALIFIED! Some people have their own reasoning for living a healthier life but my main reason is for me to truly live out my purpose and His will for my life
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
My body needs to be healthy because it is a way I praise My Heavenly Father... My body is my gift to Him
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
Changing my mindset
Romans 12:1-2
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Everything I do (like exercising) or even eating should GLORIFY my Father!
1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
When I am tempted.....
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
When I feel discouraged...
Luke 11:9
And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you
Remember I need to rest...
Gen 2:2
And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.

A new twist for 2010... I hope it works
Merry Day after Christmas!!!!!!!!!
So my Theme for 2010 is to change my mind set.... I feel that every year I am so determine to lose weight, become a better person, stop procrastinating. And every year I end my new year's resolution a month or two after I started it. Just sad!!!!! So I decided for 2010 to change my mind set and instead of having resolutions I have decided to set monthly goals for myself to achieve. People always say that setting smaller attainable goals are better than setting big resolutions. Basically these monthly goals are my road map to my final destination.
Goals for January 2010
-healthy living goals every week
- exercise once a week
- stick to a schedule (work/school)
-go to the library after class
- drink 32 oz of water a day
- start budgeting
- keep a journal (daily)
- meditate on a scripture every day
- memorize a scripture weekly
- always read a book I enjoy
- take water aerobics
- every Saturday= cleaning day
- have a health challenge every week
- crock pot meals for dinner
- lose 1-2 pounds a week
